Alertness vs. unawareness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being aware of the physical\nand spiritual events taking place around me so that I can have the right\nresponses to them.&nbsp; \u201cWatch, stand fast in\nthe faith, be brave, be strong\u201d (1 Corinthians 16:13)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>2. Attentiveness vs. unconcern<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we are focused on Christ,\nthen He has our attention; we are concentrating on Him and His word; He\noccupies the forefront of our minds. Such a focus is only fitting, because\nJesus \u201cis the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the\nfirstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the\nsupremacy\u201d (Colossians 1:18).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>3. Availability vs. self-centeredness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adjusting my personal life\naround the needs of those whom I am serving. \u201cEach of you should use whatever\ngift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God\u2019s grace in\nits various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the\nvery words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God\nprovides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him\nbe the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen\u201d (1 Peter 4:10\u201311)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>4. Boldness vs. fearfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confidence that what I have\nto say or do is true and right and just in the sight of God. \u201cAnd now, Lord,\nlook upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your\nword with all boldness,\u201d (Acts 4:29)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>5. Cautiousness vs. rashness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing how important right\ntiming is in accomplishing right actions. \u201cEven zeal is not good without\nknowledge, and the one who acts hastily sins.\u201d (Proverbs 19:2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>6. Compassion vs. indifference<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investing to heal the hurts\nof others. \u201cBut if anyone has the world&#8217;s goods and sees his brother in need,\nyet closes his heart against him, how does God&#8217;s love abide in him?\u201d (1 John\n3:17)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>7. Contentment vs. covetousness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Realizing God has provided\neverything I need for my present happiness.&nbsp;\n\u201cBut if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.\u201d (1\nTimothy 6:8) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>8. Creativity vs. underachievement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applying God&#8217;s wisdom and\npractical insights to a need or task. \u201cDo not be conformed to this world, but\nbe transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern\nwhat is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.\u201d (Romans\n12:2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>9. Decisiveness vs. double-mindedness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ability to finalize\ndifficult decisions based on the will and ways of God. \u201cBut if any of you lacks\nwisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach,\nand it Will be given to him.\u201d (James 1:5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>10. Deference vs. rudeness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Limiting my freedom to speak\nand act in order not to unnecessarily offend others. \u201cIt is good not to eat\nmeat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles.\u201d\n(Romans 14:21)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>11. Dependability vs. inconsistency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulfilling what I consented\nto do even if it means unexpected sacrifice. \u201c\u2026honor those who fear the Lord, who\nkeeps his word whatever the cost\u201d (Psalm 15:4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>12. Determination vs. faintheartedness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purposing to accomplish God&#8217;s\ngoals in God&#8217;s timing regardless of the opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have fought the good\nfight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there\nis laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous\nJudge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who\nhave loved His appearing.\u201d (2 Timothy 4:7-8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>13. Diligence vs. slothfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acknowledging each task as a\nspecial assignment from the Lord and using all my energies to accomplish it.&nbsp; \u201cWhatever you do, do your work heartily, as\nfor the Lord rather than for men.\u201d (Colossians 3:23)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>14. Discernment vs. judgment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The God-given ability to\nunderstand why things happen to others and to me. \u201cTrust in the Lord with all your\nheart, and do not lean on your own understanding.&nbsp; 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he\nwill make straight your paths.\u201d (Proverbs 3:5-6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>15. Discretion vs. simplemindedness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ability to avoid words,\nactions, and attitudes which could result in undesirable consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe prudent sees danger and\nhides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.\u201d (Proverbs 22:3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>16. Endurance vs. giving up<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inward strength to\nwithstand the stress to accomplish God&#8217;s best. \u201cAnd let us not lose heart in\ndoing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.\u201d (Galatians\n6:9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>17. Enthusiasm vs. apathy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing with my spirit the\njoy of my soul. \u201cRejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give\nthanks; for this is God&#8217;s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the\nSpirit.\u201d (1 Thessalonians 5:15-16)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>18. Faith vs. presumption<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open to what God intends to\ndo in a given situation and acting in harmony with it. \u201cNow faith is the\nassurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.\u201d (Hebrews\n11:1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>19. Flexibility vs. resistance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not setting my affections on\nideas or plans, which could be changed by God or others. \u201cSet your mind on the\nthings above, not on the things that are on earth.\u201d (Colossians 3:2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>20. Forgiveness vs. rejection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clearing the record of those\nwho have wronged me and allowing God to love them through me. \u201cAnd be kind to\none another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also\nhas forgiven you.\u201d (Ephesians 4:32)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>21. Generosity vs. stinginess<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Realizing that all I have\nbelongs to God and using it for His purposes. \u201cNow this I say, he who sows\nsparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also\nreap bountifully.\u201d (2 Corinthians 9:6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>22. Gentleness vs. harshness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Showing personal care and\nconcern in meeting the needs of others. \u201cBut we proved to be gentle among you,\nas a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children.\u201d (1 Thessalonians 2:7)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>23. Gratefulness vs. un-thankfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making known to God and\nothers in what ways they have benefited my life. \u201cBut thanks be to God, who in\nChrist always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the\nfragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.\u201d (2 Corinthians 2:14)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>24. Hospitality vs. loneliness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cheerfully sharing food,\nshelter, and spiritual refreshment with those whom God brings into my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDo not neglect to show\nhospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without\nknowing it.\u201d (Hebrews 13:2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>25. Humility vs. pride<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing the contrast between\nGod&#8217;s holiness and my sinfulness. \u201cBut he gives a greater grace. Therefore it\nsays, \u201cGod is opposed to the proud, but gives to the humble.\u201d (James 4:6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>26. Initiative vs. unresponsiveness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognizing and doing what\nneeds to be done before I am asked to do it. \u201cBe very careful, then, how you\nlive\u2014not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because\nthe days are evil.\u201d (Ephesians 5:15-16)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>27. Joyfulness vs. self-pity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can refuse to indulge our\nsin natures and choose instead a grateful heart, trusting that \u201cit is God who\nworks in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose\u201d\n(Philippians 2:13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>28. Justice vs. fairness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personal responsibility to\nGod&#8217;s unchanging laws. \u201cHe had told you, O man, what is good; and what does the\nLord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly\nwith your God?\u201d (Micah 6:8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>29. Love vs. selfishness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willingly, caringly tending to\nothers&#8217; without having personal rewards as my motive. \u201cIn everything I did, I\nshowed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering\nthe words the Lord Jesus himself said: \u2018It is more blessed to give than to\nreceive.\u2019\u201d (Acts 20:35)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>30. Loyalty vs. unfaithfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We demonstrate our loyalty\nand self-sacrificing allegiance to Him by following His command: \u201cIf anyone\nwould come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me\u201d\n(Mark 8:34). But even when we fail to be completely loyal and steadfast to Him,\nwe have His assurance that He will be loyal to us: \u201cAnd surely I am with you\nalways, even to the very end of the age\u201d (Matthew 28:20b).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>31. Meekness vs. anger<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yielding my personal rights\nand expectations to God. \u201cMy soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is\nfrom him.\u201d (Psalm 62:5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>32. Obedience vs. willfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standing firm in faith, fulfilling\nGod\u2019s instructions.&nbsp; \u201cWe are destroying\nspeculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and\nwe are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.\u201d (2 Corinthians\n10:5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>33. Orderliness vs. disorganization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arranging my life and\nsurrounding so that God has maximum freedom to achieve His goals through me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut let all things be done\nproperly and in an orderly manner.\u201d (1 Corinthians 14:40)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>34. Patience vs. restlessness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accepting a difficult\nsituation from God without giving Him a deadline to remove it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd not only this, but we\nalso exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about\nperseverance; and perseverance, proved character; and proven character, hope.\u201d\n(Romans 5:34)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>35. Persuasiveness vs. contentiousness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using words, which cause the\nlistener&#8217;s spirit to confirm that he is hearing truth. \u201cAnd the Lord&#8217;s servant must\nnot be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil\u201d\n(2 Timothy 2:24)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>36. Punctuality vs. tardiness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Showing respect for other people\nand the limited time that God has given to them. \u201cTeach us to number our days\u201d\n(Psalm 90:12)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>37. Resourcefulness vs. wastefulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wise use of that which others\nwould normally overlook or discard. \u201cHe who is faithful in a very little thing\nis faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is\nunrighteous also in much.\u201d (Luke 16:10)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>38. Responsibility vs. unreliability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing and doing what God\nand others are expecting from me. \u201cFor each will have to bear his own load\u201d\n(Galatians 5:6); \u201cSo then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.\u201d\n(Romans 14:12)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>39. Reverence vs. disrespect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awareness of how God is\nworking through the people and events in my life to produce the character of\nChrist in me. \u201cFor those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the\nimage of his Son\u201d (Romans 8:29)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>40. Security vs. anxiety<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Structuring my life around\nwhat is eternal and cannot be destroyed or taken away. \u201cDon\u2019t work for the food\nthat perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life\u201d (John 6:27)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>41. Self-control vs. self-indulgence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instant obedience to the\ninitial prompting of God&#8217;s Spirit. \u201cNow those who belong to Christ Jesus have\ncrucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit,\nlet us also walk by the Spirit.\u201d (Galatians 5:24-25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>42. Sensitivity vs. callousness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing by the prompting of\nGod&#8217;s Spirit what words and actions will benefit the lives of others. \u201cThe Holy\nSpirit will give you the words to say at the moment when you need them.\u201d (Luke 12:12)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>43. Sincerity vs. hypocrisy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eagerness to do what is right\nwith transparent motives. \u201cSince you have in obedience to the truth purified\nyour souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from\nthe heart.\u201d (1 Peter 1:22)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>44. Thriftiness vs. extravagance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not letting myself or others\nspend that which is not necessary. \u201cSo if you have not been faithful with\nworldly wealth, who will trust you with what is genuine?\u201d (Luke 16:11)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>45. Thoroughness vs. incompleteness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Realizing that each of our\ntasks will be reviewed and rewarded by God. \u201cSo, whether you eat or drink, or\nwhatever you do, do all to the glory of God.\u201d (1 Corinthians 10:31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>46. Tolerance vs. prejudice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viewing every person as a\nvaluable individual whom God created and loves. \u201c&#8221;Always be prepared to\ngive an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that\nyou have. But do this with gentleness and respect&#8221; (1 Peter 3:15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>47. Truthfulness vs. deception<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earning future trust by\naccurately reporting facts. \u201cTherefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth,\neach one of you, with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.\u201d\n(Ephesians 4:25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>48. Wisdom vs. natural inclinations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing and responding to life\nsituations from God&#8217;s frame of reference. \u201cThe fear of the Lord is the\nbeginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.\u201d\n(Proverbs 9:10)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>49.
