The following Bible verses reveal that this conviction\nimpacts many aspects of life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Things will be well with you: \u201c<strong>Honor your father and mother\u201d (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 \u201cthat it may go well with you<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Ephesians 6:2\u20133a<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will have a\nlong life: \u201c<strong>Children,\nobey your parents in the Lord, for this is right\u2026that you may live long in the\nland<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Ephesians 6:1; 3b<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will bring delight\nto the Lord: \u201c<strong>Children,\nobey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Colossians 3:20<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will avoid\nfear of condemnation: \u201c<strong>For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad.\nWould you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good,\nand you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God&#8217;s servant for your good. But\nif you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is\nthe servant of God, an avenger who carries out God&#8217;s wrath on the wrongdoer<\/strong>\u201d\n(<strong>Romans 13:3\u20134<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will maintain\na good conscience: \u201c<strong>Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God&#8217;s\nwrath but also for the sake of conscience<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Romans 13:5<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will bring\njoy to your authorities: \u201c<strong>Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping\nwatch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do\nthis with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you<\/strong>\u201d\n(<strong>Hebrews 13:17<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will receive\nGod\u2019s reward: \u201c<strong>Wives,\nsubmit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your\nwives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in\neverything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your\nchildren, lest they become discouraged. 22 Bondservants, obey in everything\nthose who are your earthly masters,[a] not by way of eye-service, as\npeople-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you\ndo, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the\nLord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord\nChrist<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Colossians 3:18\u201324<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will avoid\nblaspheming God and His Word through rebellion: \u201c<strong>Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants\nregard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and\nthe teaching may not be blasphemed<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>I Timothy 6:1<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will be given clear direction: \u201c<strong>My son, keep your father&#8217;s commandment,\u00a0and forsake not your mother&#8217;s teaching.\u00a0 21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.\u00a022 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you;\u00a0and when you awake, they will talk with you<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Proverbs 6:20\u201322<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will be\nprotected from evil people: \u201c<strong>For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and\nthe reproofs of discipline are the way of life, 24 to preserve you from the\nevil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>Proverbs 6:23\u201324<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will gain\ndiscernment: \u201c<strong>A\nfool despises his father&#8217;s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent<\/strong>\u201d\n(<strong>Proverbs 15:5<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will receive\npraise from your authorities: \u201c<strong>Be subject for the Lord&#8217;s sake to every human institution,\nwhether it be to the emperor[b] as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him\nto punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>I Peter 2:13\u201314<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will honor\nthose whom God has placed in authority over you: \u201c<strong>We ask you, brothers, to respect those who\nlabor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem\nthem very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves<\/strong>\u201d\n(<strong>I Thessalonians\n5:12\u201313<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You will escape\nthe destruction of pride: \u201c<strong>If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree\nwith the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords\nwith godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has\nan unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which\nproduce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>I Timothy 6:3\u20134<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n\nYou will receive the grace God gives to the humble: \u201c<strong>Likewise, you who\nare younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with\nhumility toward one another, for \u201cGod opposes the proud but gives grace to the\nhumble.\u201d&nbsp; 6 Humble yourselves, therefore,\nunder the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7\ncasting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you<\/strong>\u201d (<strong>I Peter 5:5\u20137<\/strong>).\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>God promises rewards to those who submit to authority.
