Jesus is the only way to heaven. Such an exclusive statement may grate on\nthe postmodern ear, but it is true nonetheless. The Bible teaches that there is\nno other way to salvation than through Jesus Christ. No one, regardless of\nreputation, achievement, special knowledge, or personal holiness, can come to\nGod except through Jesus: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Jesus was \u201cchosen by God\u201d to be the Savior\n(1 Peter 2:4<\/strong>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Jesus is the only One to have come down from\nheaven and returned there (Jn. 3:13<\/strong>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. He is the only person to have lived a\nperfect human life (Hebrews 4:15<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. He is the only sacrifice for sin (1 John 2:2<\/strong>;\nHebrews 10:26<\/strong>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. His blood alone paid the sin debt,\nsecuring salvation (Ephesians 1:7<\/strong>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. He alone fulfilled the Law and the\nProphets (Matthew\n5:17<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. He is the only man to have conquered death\nforever (Hebrews\n2:14\u201315<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. He is the only Mediator between God and\nman (1 Timothy\n2:5<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. He is the only man whom God has \u201cexalted . . . to\nthe highest place<\/strong>\u201d (Phil. 2:9<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Jesus spoke of Himself as the only way to\nheaven in several places besides Jn. 14:6<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  11. He presented Himself as the object of\nfaith (Matthew\n7:21\u201327<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  12. He said His words are life (John 6:63<\/strong>);\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  13. He promised that those who believe in Him\nwill have eternal life (John 3:14\u201315<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  14. He is the gate of the sheep (John 10:7<\/strong>);\nthe bread of life (John 6:35<\/strong>); and the resurrection (John 11:25<\/strong>).\nNo one else can rightly claim those titles; <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  15. The apostles\u2019 preaching focused on the\ndeath and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Peter, speaking to the Sanhedrin,\nclearly proclaimed Jesus as the only way to heaven: \u201cSalvation is found in no one else, for there is\nno other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved<\/strong>\u201d\n(Acts 4:12<\/strong>);\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  16. Paul, speaking to the synagogue in\nAntioch, singled out Jesus as the Savior: \u201cI want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins\nis proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every\nsin<\/strong>\u201d (Acts 13:38\u201339<\/strong>); <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  17. John, writing to the church at large,\nspecifies the name of Christ as the basis of our forgiveness: \u201cI am writing to\nyou, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name<\/strong>\u201d\n(1 John 2:12<\/strong>).\nNo one but Jesus can forgive sin; <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  18. Eternal life in heaven is made possible\nonly through Christ. Jesus prayed, \u201cNow this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only\ntrue God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent<\/strong>\u201d (John 17:3<\/strong>);\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  19. To receive God\u2019s free gift of salvation,\nwe must look to Jesus and Jesus alone. We must trust in Jesus\u2019 death on the\ncross as our payment for sin and in His resurrection. \u201cThis righteousness from God comes through faith\nin Jesus Christ to all who believe<\/strong>\u201d (Romans 3:22<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    At one point in\nJesus\u2019 ministry, many of the crowd were turning their backs on Him and leaving in\nhopes of finding another savior. Jesus asked the Twelve, \u201cDo you want to go away as well?<\/strong>\u201d (John 6:67<\/strong>).\nPeter\u2019s reply is exactly right: \u201cLord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal\nlife, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of\nGod<\/strong>\u201d (John 6:68\u201369<\/strong>).  May we\nall share Peter\u2019s faith that eternal life resides only in Jesus Christ and\ndemonstrate such in all our contemplations, thoughts, motives, words and deeds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
