{"id":90671,"date":"2021-03-11T11:09:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-11T16:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/keriritenour.com\/grace\/walking-with-god\/"},"modified":"2023-10-06T22:18:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-07T02:18:27","slug":"walking-with-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keriritenour.com\/grace\/walking-with-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Walking with God"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">When you walk with someone\nobviously you won\u2019t be going in opposite directions. If so, you can\u2019t listen to\nthem, enjoy them, share things with them, much less understand them. &nbsp;So it is with God.&nbsp; Walking with God is not just an hour on\nSunday morning, it\u2019s a lifestyle.&nbsp; In\nthis evil generation it\u2019s not hard to notice a man or woman of God whose heart\nis aligned with God\u2019s heart.&nbsp; Why?&nbsp; Because their light shines so bright given their\nwalk with God that it sets them apart from the world.&nbsp; What does the Bible say about our walk with\nGod?&nbsp; Twenty-one clarifying verses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>God has defined for us what it is to\nwalk with Him:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">1. <strong>Deuteronomy 8:6:<\/strong> \u201cObserve the\ncommands of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">2. <strong>Micah 6:8:<\/strong> \u201cHe has made it clear to\nyou, mortal man, what is good and what the LORD is requiring from you\u2014 to act\nwith justice, to treasure the LORD\u2019s gracious love, and to walk humbly in the\ncompany of your God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">3. <strong>Romans 13:13:<\/strong> \u201cLet us walk with\ndecency, as in the daylight: not in carousing and drunkenness; not in sexual\nimpurity and promiscuity; not in quarreling and jealousy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">4. <strong>Ephesians 2:10:<\/strong> \u201cFor we are His\ncreation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of\ntime so that we should walk in them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">5. <strong>Colossians 1:10-11:<\/strong> \u201c\u2026so that you\nmight live in a manner worthy of the Lord and be fully pleasing to him as you\nbear fruit while doing all kinds of good things and growing in the full knowledge\nof God. You are being strengthened with all power according to his glorious\nmight, so that you might patiently endure everything with joy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>When we walk with the Lord we draw\ncloser to Him with all our heart. He becomes our focus. Our hearts long for\nHim. We seek His presence. Our desire to have fellowship with Christ and be\nlike Him will grow while our worldly desires will decrease:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">6. <strong>1 John 2:6:<\/strong> \u201cThe one who says he\nresides in God ought himself to walk just as Jesus walked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">7. <strong>Luke 10:27:<\/strong> \u201cAnd he answering said,\nThou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and\nwith all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">8. <strong>Hebrews 10:22:<\/strong> \u201c\u2026let us continue to\ncome near with sincere hearts in the full assurance that faith provides,\nbecause our hearts have been sprinkled clean from a guilty conscience, and our\nbodies have been washed with pure water.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>When walking with God we desire to\nplease God and allow Him to work in our lives to make us into the image of His\nSon:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">9. <strong>Romans 8:29:<\/strong> \u201c\u2026because those whom he\nforeknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his\nSon would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">10. <strong>Philippians 1:6:<\/strong> \u201cBeing confident of\nthis very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it\nuntil the day of Jesus Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>When walking with the Lord we will grow\nin awareness of sin in our lives and our need for a Savior. More and more we\nwill grow in hatred of our sins and want to rid our lives of them. Therefore, more\nand more we will confess and forsake our sins:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">11. <strong>Luke 18:13:<\/strong> \u201cBut the tax collector\nstood at a distance and would not even look up to heaven. Instead, he continued\nto beat his chest and said, \u2018O God, be merciful to me, the sinner that I am!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">12. <strong>1 John 1:9:<\/strong> \u201cIf we confess our sins,\nhe is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all\nunrighteousness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>When we are walking with God we don\u2019t\nlet other things distract us from Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">13. <strong>Luke 10:40-42:<\/strong> \u201cBut Martha was\ndistracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, \u201cLord, don\u2019t You care\nthat my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.\u201d&nbsp; The Lord answered her, \u201cMartha, Martha, you\nare worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has\nmade the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>We will walk by faith:&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">14. <strong>2 Corinthians 5:7:<\/strong> \u201cIndeed, our\nlives are guided by faith, not by sight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">15. <strong>Romans 1:17:<\/strong> \u201cFor in the gospel the righteousness\nof God is revealed\u2014a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as\nit is written: \u201cThe righteous will live by faith.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>We can\u2019t walk with the Lord if we\u2019re\nliving in darkness. We can\u2019t have God but do evil.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">16. <strong>1 John 1:6-7:<\/strong> \u201cIf we say we have\nfellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and\nnot practicing the truth. But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the\nlight, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son\ncleanses us from all sin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">17. <strong>Galatians 5:16:<\/strong> \u201cI say then, walk by\nthe Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>A genuine walk with God aligns with\nGod\u2019s will:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">18. <strong>Amos 3:3:<\/strong> \u201cDo two walk together\nunless they have agreed to do so?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">19. <strong>Genesis 6:8-9:<\/strong> \u201cNoah, however, found\nfavor in the sight of the LORD. These are the family records of Noah. Noah was\na righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Our walk with God is one of assurance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">20. <strong>John 8:12:<\/strong> \u201cJesus spoke to the\npeople once more and said, \u2018I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you\nwon\u2019t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to\nlife.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">21. <strong>2 Peter 1:10, 11:<\/strong> \u201cTherefore,\nbrothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if\nyou practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will\nbe richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and\nSavior Jesus Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you walk with someone obviously you won\u2019t be going in opposite directions.
