{"id":90642,"date":"2021-03-10T11:10:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T16:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/keriritenour.com\/grace\/rapture-second-coming-tribulation-saints\/"},"modified":"2023-10-30T01:07:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T05:07:31","slug":"rapture-second-coming-tribulation-saints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keriritenour.com\/grace\/rapture-second-coming-tribulation-saints\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapture, Second Coming &#038; Tribulation Saints"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Two key questions in relation to Revelation 14:15<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li><strong>&#8220;What is the\ndifference between the Rapture and the Second Coming?&#8221;<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Answer: The rapture and the second\ncoming of Christ are often confused. Sometimes it is difficult to determine\nwhether a scripture verse is referring to the rapture or the second coming.\nHowever, in studying end-times Bible prophecy, it is very important to\ndifferentiate between the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The rapture is when Jesus Christ\nreturns to remove the church (all believers in Christ) from the earth. The\nrapture is described in <strong>1 Thessalonians 4:13-18<\/strong> and <strong>1 Corinthians 15:50-54<\/strong>. Believers\nwho have died will have their bodies resurrected and, along with believers who\nare still living, will meet the Lord in the air. This will all occur in a\nmoment, in a twinkling of an eye. By contrast, the second coming is when Jesus\nreturns to defeat the Antichrist, destroy evil, and establish His millennial\nkingdom. The second coming is best described in <strong>Revelation 19:11-16<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The important differences between\nthe rapture and second coming are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A) At the rapture, believers meet\nthe Lord in the air (<strong>1 Thessalonians 4:17<\/strong>). At the second coming,\nbelievers return with the Lord to the earth (<strong>Revelation 19:14<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">B) The second coming occurs after\nthe great and terrible tribulation (Revelation 6-19). The rapture occurs before\nthe tribulation (<strong>1 Thessalonians 5:9; Revelation 3:10<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">C) The rapture is the removal of\nbelievers from the earth as an act of deliverance (<strong>1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 5:9<\/strong>). The\nsecond coming includes the removal of unbelievers as an act of judgment (<strong>Matthew 24:40-41<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">D) The rapture will be secret and\ninstant (<strong>1\nCorinthians 15:50-54<\/strong>). The second coming will be visible to all (<strong>Revelation 1:7;\nMatthew 24:29-30<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">E) The second coming of Christ\nwill not occur until after certain other end-times events take place (<strong>2 Thessalonians\n2:4; Matthew 24:15-30; Revelation 6-18<\/strong>). The rapture is imminent; it\ncould take place at any moment (<strong>Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li><strong>&#8220;What are\ntribulation saints?&#8221;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Answer: The tribulation saints\nare, quite simply, saints living during the tribulation. We believe that the\nchurch will be raptured before the tribulation, but the Bible indicates that a\ngreat number of people during the tribulation will place their faith in Jesus\nChrist. In his vision of heaven, John sees a vast number of these tribulation\nsaints who have been martyred by the Antichrist: <strong>\u201cThere before me was a great multitude that no\none could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before\nthe throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were\nholding palm branches in their hands\u201d (Revelation 7:9)<\/strong>. When John\nasks who they are, he is told, <strong>\u201cThese are they who have come out of the great tribulation;\nthey have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb\u201d\n(verse 14)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The tribulation will be a time of\ngreat trouble for the wicked, because of God\u2019s judgments. It will also be a\ntime of great persecution for the believers\u2014or saints\u2014because of the\nAntichrist\u2019s persecution (<strong>Revelation 13:7<\/strong>). Daniel saw the Antichrist <strong>\u201cwaging war against\nthe saints and defeating them\u201d (Daniel 7:21)<\/strong>. Of course, the saints\u2019\neternal salvation is secure: Daniel also saw that <strong>\u201cthe Ancient of Days came and pronounced\njudgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came when they\npossessed the kingdom\u201d (Daniel 7:22; cf. Revelation 14:12\u201313)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The tribulation saints will hear\nthe gospel from several possible sources: 1) the first is the Bible as there\nwill be many copies of the Bible left in the world, and when God\u2019s judgments\nbegin to fall, many people will likely react by finding a Bible to see if\nprophecies are being fulfilled; 2) many of the tribulation saints will also\nhave heard the gospel from the two witnesses (<strong>Revelation 11:1\u201313<\/strong>). The Bible says\nthese two <strong>individuals\n\u201cwill prophesy for 1,260 days [three and a half years]\u201d (verse 3) <\/strong>and\nperform great miracles(<strong>verse 6<\/strong>);\n3) and then there are the 144,000 Jewish missionaries who are redeemed and\nsealed by God during the tribulation (<strong>Revelation 7:1\u20138<\/strong>). Immediately following the\ndescription of their sealing in <strong>Revelation 7<\/strong>, we read of the multitudes of\ntribulation saints who are saved from every corner of the world (<strong>verses 9\u201317<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The tribulation saints will serve\nthe Lord Jesus Christ in the midst of desperate surroundings. Faithful to the\nend, many of these believers will die for their faith. But in their death, they\novercome; <strong>\u201cThey\novercame [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;\nthey did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death\u201d (Revelation\n12:11)<\/strong>. And God will reward them: <strong>\u201cHe who sits on the throne will spread his tent\nover them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun\nwill not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of\nthe throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living\nwater. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes\u201d (Revelation 7:15\u201317)<\/strong>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">We praise the Lord that the great\nday of trouble will also be a great day of grace. Even as God is meting out His\njust punishment on an unbelieving world, He will be restoring Israel to faith\nand extending grace to all who believe, both Jew and Gentile. God has always\nbeen in the business of saving people, and that salvation will still be\navailable during the tribulation.
