The God of Justice

Justice is a part of His character:

He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice.  A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he (Deuteronomy 32:4)

Declare and present your case; let them take counsel together!  Who told this long ago?  Who declared it of old?  Was it not I, the Lord?  And there is no other god besides me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me (Isaiah 45:21)

God’s Justice is declared to be:

Plenteous

Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict (Job 37:23)

Incomparable

Who is like to you, O LORD, among the gods? who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? (Exodus 15:11)

Incorruptible

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe (Deuteronomy 10:17)

Impartial

Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking bribes (2 Chronicles 19:7)

Equitable

Great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds (Jeremiah 32:19)

Unfailing

The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame (Zephaniah 3:5)

Undeviating

Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment (Job 34:12)

Without respect of persons:

For there is no respect of persons with God (Romans 2:11)

For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done: and there is no respect of persons (Colossians 3:25)

And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile (1 Peter 1:17)

The habitation of His throne:

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you (Psalm 89:14)

Not to be sinned against:

All who found them have devoured them, and their enemies have said, ‘We are not guilty, for they have sinned against the Lord, their habitation of righteousness, the Lord, the hope of their fathers. (Jeremiah 50:7)

Denied by the ungodly:

Yet your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just,’ when it is their own way that is not just (Ezekiel 33:17)

Exhibited In:

Forgiving sins

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

Redemption

It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus (Romans 3:26)

His government

For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment (Psalm 9:4)

But let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord (Jeremiah 9:24)

His judgments

Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just? (Genesis 18:25)

For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand (Revelation 19:2)

All His ways

“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just? (Ezekiel 18:25)

The final judgment

Because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead (Acts 17:31)

Acknowledge:

Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment (Psalm 51:4)

By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.” (Romans 3:4)

Magnify:

Let them praise your great and awesome name!  Holy is he!  4 The King in his might loves justice.  You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. (Psalm 99:3-4)
